A steering committee of AJL members forms to develop the concept of
organized voluntarism:

Sixty-eight Charter members attend the first general meeting and
participate in a provisional course throughout the first year.

First LIVEWIRE is printed as a newsletter for all members.

$8,800 is raised in the first community fundraiser, the Booming
Bargains rummage sale.
